Our Story

We met in 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda, and it would take eleven months, two unplanned meetings in New York and Accra, three planned trips to Sharm el-Sheikh, Amsterdam, and Barcelona, before we finally took a hint from the universe, packed our belongings and moved 7,000 kilometres and across an ocean to start a life together. Connecting over a passion for saving the world, karaoke and life adventures, Helen and Akil sparked almost instantly (in spite of Helen's competitive streak). Once they started building their life together in Vienna, and briefly, Barbados, the rest was history. By January 2024 we were getting engaged in Zanzibar on the coast of the Indian Ocean, and next year we're making it official in Tuscany!
